Whatever Can We Talk About?

My son said to me the other day
“We really don’t have anything of interest to say
To each other”, so why, pray,
Do we often talk about each other in this way?
When we really only have to be able to say
“How was your day?”
Or “How was your fun evening away?”
Or “Why can we never get along better today?”
It is a choice
Contemplated in only one voice
When all we have to do is rejoice
In the nonsense of our voice.
Because as we share
And as we care
We can certainly stare
At all of the anxiety there
And let it go without a care.
It is all in what we are attached to, in what direction we stare;
We could abysmally berate each other there
But wouldn’t it rather be beneficial if we just cared
For each other anywhere?
It is the loss of voice
Which gives us no choice
For if we could rejoice
We would forever be called in just One Voice
Of Love;
And determination can bring us on a Higher wing
To finally extend and fling
A wonderful life
Of resolved and metered strife.
It is a positronic life
To give it no strife;
It is an animal with no life;
We are borne without strife
Let it go and live your life!
